Placed near the edge of the settlement of Mariou in southern Crete, this twin-house project transforms an existing shell into two mirrored dwellings for two brothers. The original volume is divided with clarity and restraint, allowing the two homes to remain closely connected while maintaining their own sense of privacy and independence. New openings turn the interiors toward the distant sea and landscape, while stone walls anchor the project to the sloping ground. Light plaster surfaces, timber lattice screens, and sun-protected pergolas temper the intensity of the southern light and establish a material language rooted in the Cretan terrain. Neither a pair of isolated houses nor a single monolithic object, the project becomes a measured landscape structure — an architecture of symmetry, filtered light, shared memory, and a deep connection to place.
